Who writes the jokes
Every dad joke, knock-knock joke and pun on the site was written for Giggle Fern. A few of the riddles follow patterns that have been passed around for generations, such as the towel that gets wetter as it dries; those are retold here in our own words, and the rest are new.
The rules are simple: jokes are for all ages, there are no rude words, and nobody is the butt of the joke. The worst thing that happens to anyone is a pun.
How it works
Giggle Fern is a set of static pages. The tools run in your browser: the shuffling, the guess checking and the card layouts all happen on your device, and nothing you type is sent anywhere. Your colour theme and any jokes you press Keep on are saved in your browser's local storage. Printing is done by your browser too.
The site uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page views. It does not use cookies or track you across other sites, and it never receives what you type or choose in the tools. The privacy page has the details.
Meet Fernie
The potted fern in the comic panels is Fernie. Fernie has heard every joke on the site more times than anyone should, and still laughs at all of them.
